After working for a number of years at IBM, I left work to raise our first two children, and returned to work at my husband's charter bus company, Shafer Bus Lines, where I did bookkeeping and set up all the group tours. I stopped working about 8 years ago, and started working seriously at my "hobby". I make porcelain dolls. I've taken many seminars; have made hundreds of dolls (mostly antique reproduction), and have entered many doll competitions (some international), and won blue ribbons. I have received a "Master of Dollmaking" accreditation, and am currently working toward a "Grand Masters" title. I am a certified teacher of doll-making, as well. (I even occasionally sell some of my dolls.) We have a few more years before my husband plans to retire, but have done a lot of traveling already. We've been to Europe three times, and plan to go more. We also do a lot of camping, most recently spending a couple of weeks in Fayetteville, N.C., with our fifth-wheel, visiting our oldest son and his wife. |
