Plans after CVCS: Broome Tech.

Here is a short update on my life since graduation 40 years ago. I attended Broome Tech and graduated from Cortland State in 1966. I taught for one year in Union Endicott and found that teaching was not for me. I then went to work for New York State and retired in 1998 with 31 years of service. At the age of 29, I married a man with 6 children. We did not have any children together. We now have 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

We will celebrate our 29th anniversary in November. After I retired, we bought a home in a retirement community in Winter Haven, Florida and are now snowbirds, although we spend more time in Florida than in NY. We keep busy with golf, shuffleboard, traveling and having the children and grandchildren visit us. We are enjoying retirement and God willing will continue to do so for many more years.

Mike, you have done a wonderful job in organizing the reunion and I for one appreciate all the work and effort you and the rest of the committee have put into it. I wish you well and a successful party. Maybe I will make it for the 50th.

Sincerely,

Norma Holt Warne

6-2-03 Update We now are living year around in Winter Haven, Fl. We have the same e-mail address as listed on the CV '62 web site

5-21-12 Update I am still living in Winter Haven, Florida and am now a full time Floridian. My husband died in August 2006 after 32 years of marriage. I still visit New York for a couple of months in the summer and always come north for the Christmas holidays. My step family has grown in the past 10 years. Besides 6 stepchildren, I have 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. That's what you get when you marry an older man with 6 children. I am fortunate that I am still close to my stepchildren and their kids. I have many friends whose step families just forget about them when their spouse dies. I have done some traveling. Last fall I spend 3 weeks in Australia and New Zealand, certainly a trip of a lifetime for me. I still want to make it to Alaska and Hawaii. My husband and I talked about it for a long time, but never did it. Now I have to do it without him. I am active locally in Today's Floridian, a social club for women in the Winter Haven area. I am also Queen Mother of my Red Hat group. I am also active in my sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. I manage to keep busy and still do a lot of reading. Maybe too much, since I let my housework slide. I am looking forward to the reunion and reconnecting with my classmates from 50 years ago. __________________________________________________
