After graduation from CV I attended Alfred University and graduated in
1966. Then it was on to Medical School in Syracuse at the Upstate Medical
Center from 1966-70. While serving an internship (1970-71) in Syracuse,
Uncle Sam decided he needed my medical talents and drafted me into the US
Army. I was slated to serve a tour in Vietnam but the peace treaty was
signed so off I went to Stuttgart, Germany for three years at the 5th
General Hospital. I returned to Syracuse and from 1974-76 I finished my medical training. In 1976 I began practicing medicine in Cortland, New York where I stayed until 1990. I received an opportunity to move to Cooperstown, NY and teach at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital (a Columbia University affiliate). I stayed there until 2000 when I came back home to Binghamton. I currently serve on the staff of Lourdes Hospital as Attending Physician, inpatient medicine. Concurrent with my Syracuse medical education, I met Dianne Cooney who became Mrs. Miner in 1969. We have five children (4 girls and 1 boy). The last two are twins now age 22. Dianne is a RN and recently earned her Ph.D. in Nursing. While we lived in Cooperstown she was the Chair of the Department of Nursing at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. She currently works as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Nursing at Binghamton University, part of the SUNY system. My current activities are paying college tuition and playing golf. If I could get better at golf I might be able to make more tuition payments. See you all in September. |
