After graduating from CV, I headed west to Buffalo(SUNY) to study Physical Therapy. In the fall of my sophomore year I
met the love of my life, Dave Anderson, and had the good sense to marry him at the end of my junior year. After graduating in
'66, we headed for London where Dave had already spent one year studying for his PhD in Mechanical Engineering. I worked
as a Research Assistant for the 3 years we were there and we returned to the States in August of '69, with a brand new 3
month old daughter named Brittany. Dave got a job with NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland and we've been living
here ever since.
![]() I've been working 3 days a week for a private PT office, dealing mostly with orthopedic patients for the last 23 years and still love it. I sing in the church choir, but am no longer involved in the women's show choir that took up a large part of my time for many years. It was a lot of fun and gave me the courage to start a Show Choir at our local high school. That, too, was a lot of fun but after 7 years of choreographing several concerts and 3 musicals, I've hung up my dancing shoes! We have three children, all grown and on their own: Bryony and her husband Jim (their kids Lindsay, Luke, Jake); Heather and husband Michael; John and his daughter Sarah. We are very much looking forward to next September and the chance to touch bases with old friends. It seems that the older we get, the more we cherish the people "who knew us when." God's blessings on you all! Update 2012: My dear husband of almost 42 years died in May of 2007, after a long battle with leukemia/lymphoma. We had lived on 8 acres in a lovely out-in-the-country town of Columbia Station, Ohio with the best neighbors in the world. However, I really did not feel able to do justice to the care-taking of that much property, so two years ago, moved into a beautiful cluster home in North Ridgeville, about 10 minutes west of Columbia Station. I was the 20th person from my church to have moved into this development, so already had some "built-in" friends, which was a real blessing. Seven months after David's death, I decided to return to work. I really love what I do and it gave me a chance to feel connected with people and useful at the same time. I'm a Physical Therapist and work in a private Orthopedic Outpatient facility just 2 days a week. My boss, who is 10 years younger than I, has just announced his retirement as of May 31. He has sold his practice to a young guy, only 3 years out of college, so it looks like I'll hang in there for another year to help with the transition and then retire for good. I am still very involved in church work and sing in the choir. One of my greatest joys is an annual Mission Trip to Nicaragua each fall. Our church has helped build a church in Esteli, has sent over 40 kids to school (all grade levels, including to college) and is now actually building a preschool, the Tony Flauto Christian Academy, named after a dear friend who loved the Nicaraguan people and who was tragically killed in a freak accident 2 years ago. |
