![]() Bethany, Cindi and Dave Lord San Felice,Italy - July, 2001 Married to Cindi (Celebrated our 30th Anniversary in 2001!) We have one daughter, Bethany Ruth, 21, who is a junior at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, majoring in Biology. There are no grandchildren in the picture. I received my B. A. in Chemistry from Hartwick College in 1967. After two years with duPont Photo Products Division as a Process Chemist and Technical Sales Representative, I went back to graduate school to prepare to enter church ministry. In 1973 I received my Master’s degree from Andover Newton Theological School near Boston. I started serving my first church in 1970 and for the next 19 years served Congregational Churches in Massachusetts, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. At each of my positions I emphasized education for all ages. In 1989 I left the ministry and have spent most of the past 12 years working in photo retail and customer service. I have served in many capacities including store manager, lab manager, customer service supervisor and customer service manager during that time. All of that time, I now see, was setting me up for my most recent move. In 2000 I returned to school to earn credentials for licensure to teach high school chemistry. When I shared this decision with my family they paused slightly and then said “…why of course!” That’s how it feels to me, too. I am just beginning my high school teaching career at Burnsville Senior High School, a 2400 student school in Burnsville, Minnesota. I am part of a 14-person science department and teach mostly the upper level chemistry courses to about 120 students each day. I’m excited about my newest career and am already finding it fulfilling in a great many ways. We thoroughly enjoyed the 25th Reunion and are looking forward to renewing relationships at the 40th. If your travels ever take you near Minneapolis and St. Paul, please let us know. 9/12 Update: Cindi and I will celebrate our 41st Wedding Anniversary in October of 2012! We are grateful to have been able to share those years with each other and look forward to many more. We have lived in Minnesota since 1988 and are trying to decide what’s next for us. Our daughter, Bethany, was married to Ross Penna in May 2009. After she received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Colorado College in 2003 she spent some time overseas, in Southeast Asia and South America. When she returned home, she also returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. Having two nurses in the family is a great adventure! Early in August of this year we welcomed our first grandbaby, Fiona Mae Penna! We are really enjoying being grandparents to this sweet little bundle. ![]() ![]() When I left the ministry in 1989 I spent most of the first 10 years working in photo retail and customer service. Serving in the many capacities that I did during that time, I now see, was setting me up for my last career move into public education. Over the last ten years my high school teaching career has taken me to Burnsville High School, a large suburban school south of the Twin Cities, as part of a large science department. Then in 2004 I moved to Hopkins High School, another large suburban high school, located west of the Twin Cities. I announced my retirement from full-time teaching in the spring. I’ve enjoyed teaching chemistry and found it both fulfilling and challenging in a great many ways. We thoroughly enjoyed the 25th and 40th Reunions and are looking forward to renewing relationships at the 50th. If your travels ever bring you near to Minneapolis and St. Paul, please let us know. |
